Hot August Nights

These were such a pretty candy apple red. One of my favorite colors.

Deans favorite kind of classic car. So if I ever make it someday and have money to blow on something I don't need, I will buy him one.

This nice guy was willing to let me take a picture of the girls in his car. Sloan wouldn't go and Zoe got scared. I wanted to sit in it, but I didn't want to seem like a bigger cheese head than I already am.

Another of Dean's favorites. The paint job on this one was very nice.

If I had a choice between this car or my Honda pilot, I would drive this in a heartbeat. I "heart" this classic car. It was one of my favorites.

This is my other favorite. So fun. This family is at the event every year. Always laughing and having a blast. I would totally sport this lovely ride also. Someday, yes someday.

Whenever I see one of these I think of the Muppet's.

This was the original sales printout for The Judge. The total sale was around 4,500. Brand spankin' new. Dean and I giggled. I am sure back then it seemed like a lot. Wish we could find a beauty like the one below for that much now.

Sometimes people try to paint flames on cars or trucks and it just looks so stupid if you don't do it right. These flames however look really nice.

This was Sloan's favorite because she thought it looked like the Magic School Bus. From the Magic School Bus books.

Last night we went to Hot August Nights at The Grand Sierra Resort here in Reno. Hot August Nights is a gathering for anyone who loves vintage and classic cars. This was the 22nd year they have had the celebration. It is a huge deal here in Reno. People come from all over the country to show their restored classic cars. I am normally not that interested in cars, however these aren't just any cars. They are all vintage cars. Let me tell you they are so much fun to go and look at. I would take a fully restored vintage car any day over the new cars of today. Old cars have such beautiful shapes and lines and curves. So much nicer to look at than the cookie cutter vehicles of today.  We had fun with the girls. We were even able to listen to Davy from the Monkeys perform while we walked around and looked at the cars. Sloan loved the music. I love family time and this has become a silly little family tradition.

"Take me out to the Ballgame" Giveaway

This is Slugger. If you couldn't tell already, he's crazy about baseball.

Hey Y'all! It's time for another Friday giveaway. This Fridays giveaway is "Take me out to the Ballgame". The painting is of Slugger the octopus. He just loves baseball. On any given day you can find him out in the local ocean sand lot playing a game of ball with Luis the crab, Marty lobster, Sid squid, and a couple of the local clams. On Saturdays however, his dad loves to take him and his brothers to watch the Marlins play a game of ball. He's all ready for the game. With his baseball bat, pennant's, popcorn & soda, he's sure to enjoy the game. Slugger even remembered to bring his trading cards. I think he hopes to get a few autographs this time. Good luck Slugger!

All you have to do to win this original painting is to leave a comment. If you link back to this post on your blog, you will have your name added 5 more times to the drawing (that's a total of 6 chances to win Slugger). You can link back to this post by pressing the "Links to this post" and then press "Create a link". I am sure there is an easier way of doing this, but I am just learning how to do this link business. The winner will be chosen by one of my munchkins Monday August 11, 2008 at 4pm. My girls are having just as much fun with the giveaways as I am. They love to pick the winners.

"Take me out to the Ballgame" measures 9"x10". This is hand painted by me! I used a medium thick watercolor paper and watercolors with some acrylic. A frame will not be included in this giveaway unless I can find one that I think looks cute. Look forward to seeing Slugger and you at the big game on Monday. Oh, I almost forgot, I'll bring the Crackerjacks!

Sneaky Peaky

Here is a little sneaky peaky of Friday's giveaway. I am very excited about this one. I don't make as much art as I would like that is geared toward boys. I have all girls, so I find myself doing mostly girlie things. I am excited to see how it turns out.

I am Working on......

So here it is. A peek at the project that has been taking up all of my thought and brain power as of lately. I have the honor of working on a basement playroom remodel for a very lovely family that I know. I will be making the presentation on Thursday. Tonight I went and picked the wall colors. Tomorrow I will be meeting with my friend Gloria. Gloria is such a kind lady. She works in flooring and is meeting me at one of our local flooring stores to help me pick out just what I need to meet the clients needs. I tried to go to Lowe's and get samples but they wanted $25 per sample. I think I am a little spoiled. I am used to the showroom where I used to work. We always had reps begging us to take their samples. They knew if we had their samples on hand we were more likely to use them in our design projects. So needless to say I am extremely grateful to Gloria for her help in the flooring department. When all is said and done, I promise to post the big reveal.

New Links!

I am always amazed at the talented and kind people I keep meeting via the blogging neighborhood. Anne form Firefly Hill Style is one of those people. Actually she found me through another blog. I am happy she did. Anne makes the most amazing bags. I love her sense of color and design. All her bags are made out of the most fun and unique fabrics. She sells them for what I consider to be a very reasonable price for a handmade bag. They would make a great gift for a mom, sister, aunt or best friend. Heck! It would be great to get one for yourself. If you haven't had a chance to visit her blog yet, I would highly recommend it. Anne also features the most lovely photo's of her beautiful home (she lives on a farm in New Jersey) and the surroundings of her adventures to farms and other interesting locations. I also enjoy seeing the posts she does on different colors that inspire her. So hop on over and take a peek. Hey mom, if you are reading this, I'll take the cute bag in the first picture.

Anne's link has been added to my links to the side of my blog.
