Toys

Toys

I thought I'd try to actually stick to the theme of "toys" this week. It challenged me to think outside the box a little. I sketched for quite a while and spent a lot of time on one drawing only to be left feeling totally disappointed. I decided to just sketch another little idea I had (the one above). It was a quick sketch in my old style from back in college days. It took me all of 5 minutes, but I had so much fun doing it. Then I broke out my paints and filled in the color. I felt so free after finishing this little exercise. I really feel that I need to do this on a daily basis. Just 15 minutes to finish something from start to finish, no pressure, & these quick sketches that fill up a sketchbook become ideas for future illustrations.

If you are interested in joining the Thursday fun drop by Simply Feathers blog. Everyone is welcome! All artistic levels are participating. It's fun to see so many people take time out of their week to spend a moment on the creative process.

Nut's About It

Abby Dog & Aris

Aris has a new saying, "Well, I'm just nuts about it". It's pretty hilarious. She'll jibber jabber on her play phone about how nut's about it she is. She's nuts about movies, food, books, socks, you name it. Tonight she was running around the house laughing hysterically and saying how nuts about things she was. I just can't help giggling. Seriously, where do kids get this stuff?

All I know it's I'm pretty nuts about her. She is growing up so quickly and turning into such a neat little person. I asked her the other day if she was going to be a good big sister and she said,"No". Then I asked her if she was going to be a good friend to Omri, she answered, "Yes mommy, I'll be his best friend". What mom could ask for more?I'm thankful for moments just like these. They make the hard parts of being a mommy worth it.

Happy Saturday

Silly little Moe

This has proven to be a busy Saturday. Even though it's been filled to the brim with activities I have found it rather relaxing. There is something comforting about spending your day with family. I have a mountain of laundry to fold and a super messy house to clean. I couldn't be happier. My windows are open to let in the fresh cool breeze & it's hard to feel anything but happy on days like this. Especially when most days have been overcast & filled with cold chilly winds. When the girls woke up this morning they couldn't wait to put on skirts & capris. I am loving the fact that soon my laundry piles will shrink just a little. Winter clothes will be set aside for a few months & sandals will replace snow boots. Days like this make me feel rejuvenated.

How are you spending your Saturday?
