Saturday Sketches

Found via Internet

I found this image a few weeks back on the Internet. Aren't those clothes just adorable?Do you see the prices? I wish I could find clothes this cute for my girls at those prices. I have had a busy Saturday. A church activity for the girls and Abby's birthday party this afternoon have left me kind of tired. A busy but good day. It's been very cold and overcast all day today. The weather reminds me a lot of Oregon weather. I love this kind of weather. Makes me want to eat soup for lunch and snuggle up under a blanket while I watch old movies. I will settle for toasty socks, a pencil and a sketchbook instead of a movie. I have so many ideas I want to do and I find myself with less and less time to do them. Three kids are just keeping me running full speed lately. So slowly but surely I hope to get all these ideas down on paper.

Swings and Progress

Dean surprised the girls with this swing.

Even though it was freezing cold and raining outside, they just couldn't help themselves. I do so look forward to warmer (not hotter) days. Dean took a huge load of scraps from the remodel to the dump today. If anyone has ever seen or been to our house, we have a very embarrassing pile of junk behind our garage. All the remnants of the many home projects Dean has worked so hard on. I have made a few subtle hints lately about how much it drives me crazy. What a guy he didn't have to work today because they are waiting for the tile to come in for a job he's working on. So he stayed home and mudded the walls one more time, cleaned up the junk pile, and tonight he did this......................

What's this? A hopper. What does it do you ask?

This....texture........finally!

A Little Muddin'

Dean's still working on skimming the kitchen walls. Zoe loves to help her daddy, and thankfully Dean is a good sport about it. I think it's such an important thing, to let our kids help us with tasks around the house. I feel it gives them such a sense of self worth and confidence. It's really not all that much work to fix the things they did incorrectly or show them how to do it properly for the next time. Zoe loved helping Dean. She was covered in mud, and got it all over my towels in the bathroom. I seriously didn't mind. She was so happy with herself, and that's what counts.

Finished!

I painted this for Zoe.

And this for Sloan.

Not sure if I will keep all of these in the frames. For now they will work. I finished this painting last night, just had to put on the gold leafing. However prepping the glass took over an hour of wiping and scraping to get it to look clean. I found the pair of frames at a yard sale. I am guessing they are from the 60's or 70's? The art work in each frame was glued to the glass. I had to soak the glass for a couple day's in a row before all the paper and glue came off. I think it was worth all the work. It's convex glass. I think it adds to the whimsy of the painting. Then I sprayed all the frames with black paint.

It will hang next to this painting, eventually. Soon I will start the painting for Aris. Where it will hang on the other side of Sloan's painting. Someday when they marry (even though Zoe is convinced she's marrying her daddy) I will give each of them their paintings. Hopefully by then I will have painted them other things, and made them quilts and dolls that they can pack up until they have children of their own. For now this is my start. Please, oh please, don't let this happen faster than it has too. Don't grow up too fast my sweet little girls.

Pat A Cake

Pat a cake, Pat a cake

Bakers man, Bake me a cake as fast as you can

Roll it, Pat it

Mark it with some hearts

And sprinkles

And enjoy it with the family!
