A Little Update

I thought I'd let you guys know how my little Sloan has been doing. Sorry I haven't written an update sooner. We went through the cabinets and fridge and tossed anything with aspartame. Anything with artificial sweeteners was tossed. Dean and I have made a commitment to buy more whole food and fresh food. We just feel that it is a healthier choice for all of us. Sloan has had less headaches, me too. The biggest improvement that I have noticed is her behavior has evened out. She still has her moments like any 9 year old girl, but not as many of the mood swings as she did before. It has made life at our home much easier to deal with. I've noticed her being kinder with the little ones and less frustration on her part.

The downside is she is still having quite a bit of joint pain. Her sugars are pretty high lately too. So I am going to be calling her Pediatrician in the morning just to go ahead and get an appointment with the rheumatologist. Just to rule out rheumatoid arthritis. Better to be safe than sorry. I will say that no matter what we find, eating healthy and more whole food less processed food can only be a benefit for our family. I will let you know as soon as we find out any news on Sloans' health. Thank you for all your prayers and concern.

ohhh, this is a good post. I need to cut back on sugar myself. I'm not a chip eater, just love sweets. i would probably have less headaches as well!

We do love cooking good food and using "the perimeter" of the grocery store instead of the aisles.

have a lovely week!
kara & darcy too

I will be praying for your darling Sloan, Summie. She is such a cutie... Have you tried stevia? A friend told me about it. She is trying a raw food diet and her family loves it. It's not an artificial sweetener. I know that diabetes can be complicated, but perhaps a bit would not hurt... Lori

I'm glad things are looking better and hope you can find a solution for her pain. Whole foods WILL definitely benefit your family as will less consumption of sugar. Best to you as you find your answers.
LOVED the post on you and Zana!! How wonderful to have good friends and memories to go with them!!

Hi Summer,
I am sorry to hear that beautiful Sloan is having a rough time. I think you are doing the right thing with whole foods...it is the way to go! I try to do it too..but I have to admit my house has a little too much junk food right now.
Hugs to Sloan,
Annie

Can't beat fresh fruit and vegies.
Hope things check out okay with the pediatrician.

We are also trying to eat more whole foods and natural things. There is just so much junk out there. It's hard to keep it all out of the house.

I will keep Sloan in my prayers. Hoping she will be feeling strong soon.
